Low-carbon-footprint sneakers by Adidas and Allbirds

May 18, 2021

Adidas and Allbirds have announced the first product from their collaboration Futurecraft.Footprint, a performance running shoe with no carbon footprint.

With each pair having a carbon footprint of just 2.94kg CO2e and created with 63 per cent less emissions, Futurecraft.Footprint showcases a new approach to sustainable design and alternative manufacturing.

The Futurecraft.Footprint midsole compound is reimagined with Allbirds’ sugarcane-based SweetFoam, offering a low-carbon natural component. The newly developed upper material is made with 70 per cent recycled polyester and 30 per cent natural Tencel – a material made from wood pulp.
